GIVING TRANSFORMATIONAL HOPE TO SLUM DWELLERS
MISSION STATEMENT
The True Hope Kenya organization exists to minister the gospel of Christ to poor and vulnerable families through child education sponsorships, feeding programs, sports ministries, Bible clubs, women and youth empowerment courses, and performing arts in the Korogocho slums of Nairobi Kenya.
I am James Oliech from Kenya, a born-again Christian who loves and knows Jesus as my personal savior. I was raised in a Christian family, with my parents spending most of their time serving God. Early on, I was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader at my local church. Then I studied for two years in the Discipleship Training School (DTS) of YWAM. Then, while volunteering in an orphanage for several years, God placed a burden on my heart to minister to the children in the Korogocho slums.
“For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me... I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’”
